Our board of directors play a critical role in the programs, growth, and vision of the Baby Spirit Foundation. The future of the Baby Spirit Foundation rests within our donors, volunteers, and amazing team!

Michael Cooney

Michael Cooney

President

Michael is a licensed funeral director and part-owner of Cooney Funeral Homes in Park Ridge & Chicago, IL.  He is a member of the Illinois Funeral Director's Association, and has extensive experience providing funeral services for those who have lost their baby through pregnancy and infant loss.   Michael believes that all families going through such a tragic loss deserve the support and comfort of the Baby Spirit Foundation.  He is motivated to work with the BSF team to give all we can to the families we serve.

Molly Gaughan

Molly Gaughan

Director of Internal Operations

After graduating from Marquette University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations and Digital Media, Molly began her career in media sales at Turner Sports, where she has been working for the last 4 years. Throughout all of her roles at Turner, including her current position as an Integrated Media Sales Planner, Molly has worked with, established and maintained relationships with over 75 accounts. Her job requires an organized and detailed-oriented workstyle, while building trust through open, honest and professional communication. While maintaining her professionalism, Molly loves being able to bring out her fun, bubbly and positive personality when working with her co-workers and clients. She is honored, humbled and very much looking forward to being a part of the Baby Spirit team; helping to ease the pain of families affected by the loss of their child in any way that she can. Katie Kevlar

Clinical Support & Expansion Committee Chair

Katie Keuler graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Early Childhood Education and is currently teaching kindergarten in Oak Park. In addition to her teaching career, as one of six kids Katie is well versed in organization, effective communication, and different types of personalities. She is optimistic and well adept at navigating challenging emotional situations through listening, providing validation, acknowledgement, and being present physically and emotionally. Katie has a variety of volunteer experience through Nourishing Hope and CASA of Cook County. She became involved in Baby Spirit after the loss of her friend’s baby and she is very honored and excited to be a part of an organization that has positively impacted so many families. 

Claire Cooney

Fundraising & Events Committee Chair

Claire Cooney graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies, where she learned how to distribute information effectively amongst organizations, clients, co-workers, and other individuals. Claire is currently working toward her masters degree to become a Special Education Learning Behavioral Specialist where she will collaborate in specialized instruction and act as an advocate for students with disabilities. Through her continuous education, Claire has developed a deep understanding of human communication and interaction; she is eager to use her background knowledge to help create lasting connections for BSF for years to come!

Lisa Kelly

Non-profit Growth Strategist

Lisa Kelly has over 20 years of experience in the non-profit sector with a focus on environmental sustainability. She is currently Senior Major Gift Officer at Island Conservation. As a fundraiser, she loves building connections and helping people reach their philanthropic goals. As a Chicago mother, Lisa is excited to bring her skills and experience to advance the mission of Baby Spirit Foundation.

Lindsay Fleming

Lindsay Fleming, LPC

Vice President

Lindsay Fleming is a Licensed Professional Counselor and private practice owner. Lindsay has worked at Lurie Children's Hospital's inpatient psychiatric unit and partial hospitalization program. She has a variety of volunteer experience, including program manager and director for a local non-profit. Lindsay is passionate in utilizing social media to help spread education about mental health and continuing to advocate for more mental health services. She has gained a following of over 462,000 across platforms and has been featured in press such as The New York Times, Vice News, Cosmopolitan, Buzzfeed, and more. She is excited and honored to work with the Baby Spirit Foundation on breaking the stigma around prenatal and infant loss while providing those grieving with emotional support and resources.

Conor Cooney

Conor Cooney

Marketing & Communications Committee Chair 

After graduating from the University of Iowa with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Conor began his career working for the Walt Disney Company. Starting as a Sales Assistant in 2015, Conor helped manage and optimize over $30M in advertising revenue for the company. He continued to develop his career at Disney, taking on a new role as Digital Planner, working on high-profile events such as the Academy Awards and NBA Finals. His success and growth within the company led to his current leadership position as an Account Executive, specializing in digital advertising and marketing. Conor now applies his communication and leadership skills as an AE to help provide creative solutions and advertising innovation to meet customer marketing objectives across the entire Disney portfolio. Conor is excited to use his experience and skillset to help spread the awareness of the Baby Spirit Foundation. Conor will be working on creative marketing solutions that will help promote the Baby Spirit mission and drive donations to the families we support.

Daniel Lampert

Daniel Lampert

Treasurer

Danny is a Senior Financial Analyst at Zurich North America. He started his professional career at Zurich with internships in IT and Expense Management. Following his graduation from the University of Iowa Tippie College of Business with a BA in Finance, he participated in a 2 year Finance Development Program at Zurich where he gained a diverse and thorough understanding of corporate finance. The program consisted of four six month rotations within different areas of Finance including Treasury, Financial Accounting and Reporting (Statutory Reporting & Financial Governance), Business Performance and Insights, and Group Reinsurance. Since successfully completing the program, Danny was promoted to his current role where he acts as a Finance liaison for 3 multi-billion dollar business units providing support from a planning, forecasting, and reporting standpoint. Danny is extremely excited to use the skills he's gained thus far to do some good in the community and make a lasting impact for the stability and long term success of BSF.

Cindy Cooney

Volunteer & Events Committee Chair

Cindy Cooney was born and raised in Chicago. She now resides in Park Ridge Illinois with her husband Michael of 33 years. They have three grown children, Michael, Conor and Claire. 

She was blessed to be a stay at home mom. Cindy's upbeat personality, empathy, and organization skills have helped cultivate her success as an early childhood educator. Additionally, Cindy has over 30 years of volunteer experience through Churches, schools and community organizations. Cindy has thrived in leadership roles on fundraising committees, often meeting or exceeding fundraising goals. Her passion has always led her to making a difference within her community. Cindy hopes to utilize her skills to grow the Baby Spirit Foundation, helping those beyond just her community. She is humbled to be part of the BSF and everything it will do to help families during the most difficult time of their lives. As a Volunteer Coordinator for BSF she will work compassionately and lovingly to make sure every family receives support.

Halley Gottschalk

Head Advisor for Families

Halley graduated from North Park University with a degree in Early Childhood Education & an endorsement in Special Education as a Learning Behavioral Specialist. She currently teaches in an elementary school in Chicago. Halley is grateful to have received the love and support of the Baby Spirit Foundation with the loss of her first daughter, Parker Rose, who was stillborn at 39 weeks and 3 days. Halley’s goal is to use her personal experience to help provide support and comfort to families during such a difficult and unimaginable time. She is so honored and grateful to be working with a team of individuals who share the same passion and visions as her to help support families during loss. 

So excited to be part of this amazing team!
